Visit Leicester

51 Gallowtree Gate, Leicester LE1 5AD, UK – 0116 299 4444

Couldn't find anywhere else to rate Leicester but here. Wanted to say what a fantastic city this is. Really interesting to see all the different cultures of people walking about. Some great entertainment on the streets from buskers, loved the clown!! Interesting history with information boards dotted around the streets. Very friendly atmosphere and the city centre streets are so clean! Chatted to a council worker who said they continuously go round picking up litter. Also no chewing gum in sight, the council worker said they come out periodically and clean it up. (Perhaps Leicester people are more responsible about where they dispose of gum!) Other councils could do with taking lessons from Leicester council. Well done!!

The town centre really busy with all the festival shopping go on, the best part of it is the security / police services on high. Marvellous work guys.

Local Parks & Gardens

The Rally

211 Tudor Rd, Leicester LE3 5JH, UK – 0116 454 1003

It's clean and peaceful, I love taking my 95 year old neighbor for a walk down there

Had a good time with kids. There are some trouble makers popping occasionally.

Belgrave Gardens

35A Thurcaston Rd, Leicester LE4 5PG, UK

This is a lovely little area. Hidden behind Ellis meadows. It’s not as big as I thought it would but it’s very well maintained. Stunning flowers and a lovely walk along by the river. They’ve recently put in flowers to help attract and feed bees as well. There’s a small play park area for kids.

When we went grass wasn't cut but otherwise lovely

Humberstone Park

Leicester LE5 4DG, UK – 0116 454 1003

Great place for riding your bike, playing football and cricket. Spacious play area with sand for young children and a separate area for the older ones. Gardens aren't huge and not a huge variety of plants; abundance of roses. Skateboard area is popular. Tennis courts usually available to use.

Large park for all ages. Play area in sand for kids. Big grass pitches for football although they are cut only sometimes. Hard to play then. Cricket pitch on the far side. Multiple entrances

Great website!. Click below to find gardens open during the year around Leicester or Leicestershire. There are photos and lots of detail about the garden.
Jewry Wall and Museum

St Nicholas Cir, Leicester LE1 4LB, UK – 0370 333 1181

I have been to this Museum many times across the years and have always found it entertaining and absorbing with its large array of artefacts which archeologists have discovered of the British, Roman, Saxon, Angles, Jutes and Danes who occupied Leicester and Leicestershire. The local tribe of Britons were the Corieltauvi so the Romans named Leicester as Ratae Corieltavorum during their period of occupation. I greatly look forward to the renovated and improved museum opening in 2019. In the meanwhile, it is still possible to see the Jewry Wall itself (and touch it via St. Nicholas' Walk) and, whilst in the area, it's worth looking at the Saxon church of St. Nicholas which is immediately next door to the Jewry Wall.

Nice peice of Roman English history, with a small museum near by worth a visit if it's open.

Middletons Steakhouse & Grill Leicester

2 St Martins, Leicester LE1 5DB, UK – 0116 319 5185

The staff here are lovely and welcoming. The food here is also amazing! The 3 course meal for £9.95 is such good value that my partner and I come here very often. I'm not even a fan of steak, but there are other options for me to choose from which is great.

We went for our anniversary meal here and it was lovely. Staff were good at their job and were helpful and polite. The food was delicious. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly. My wife had the lamb and it was nice. Just needed a bit more seasoning. Other than that the dining experience was nice. The atmosphere was also lively and there was a good mix of people.
